It depends on how the engine was built. If it is the stock engine, it will not handle being turbocharged. The engine needs to have LOW compression forged pistons. If you have an aftermarket ecm and a built engine you can go as big as you want. Auto parts : Truck Bed Rack Acura 1995 . Truck Bed Rack Insert Alfa Romeo 1996 . Truck Box Audi 1997 . What is the most small budget friendly car audio stereo and speakers? Where should I get them installed? Hi, I'm 16 years old and I'm getting my mom's old car. I'm a big music guy and my mom's car audio equipment isn't cutting it. It is just the standard stuff. I would like your opinion on what is the best stereo and speakers to get that would have good sound quality for a reasonable price. I don't want the budget stuff. I want it to sound better than the standard equipment, and have all the options I need, like a audio jack for my ipod and bluetooth. Also, I know this will vary from place to place, but I live in Shelby Township Michigan, which is zip code 48315, about one hour outside Detroit. What would be the best place to go to get it installed? Cost efficient, and reliable? Could I do it myself? I understand electronics, and my dad is an electrical engineer working for GM. Audi . How to Test the Fuel Pump on a 2002 BlazerAll vehicles require a fuel pump to send fuel from the gas tank to the engine. The fuel pump that is on a 2002 Blazer is mounted inside the fuel tank. This means that the fuel pump should be tested to verify that it is working properly, before taking the vehicle in for service. You can do this by checking some of the components on the vehicle and testing the fuel pressure. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Starting fluid Fuses Fuel relay Fuel pressure gauge Step by Step : 1 Open the hood of the vehicle and set the support bar. Locate the air cleaner that is at the front left of the engine. Have another person start the engine while you spray starting fluid into the air cleaner. If there is a stall after the starting fluid begins to dissipate, you may have a fuel problem. 2 Verify that you do not have any blown fuses in the fuse box. Pull out the fuse for the fuel pump to see if it is black or has a burn mark on the metal insert. Replace the blown fuse with a new one. 3 Find and remove the cover on the circuit box that is located in the engine compartment near the firewall on the driver's side. Check the fuses in the circuit box to see if any are blown. Pull the fuel pump relay out of the circuit box. Examine the relay to see if it is corroded or smells burnt. Replace a blown fuse or a bad fuel relay with a new one. 4 Loosen the plastic cap for the Schrader valve on a fuel line by turning it counterclockwise. Trace a fuel line from the intake to find the Schrader valve. Remove the plastic cap and set it aside. Attach the fuel pressure gauge to the valve by threading it clockwise. 5 Turn the key in the ignition to the "On" position and then back to "Off." Repeat this step every twenty seconds at least four times to properly cycle the engine. The pressure on the fuel pressure gauge should read between 55 and 61 PSI. Tips & Warnings The plastic cap on the Schrader valve looks like the cap for the valve stem on a tire.
Audi . How to Fix the Fuel Gauge in a 1997 Ford Ranger XLTThe fuel gauge rarely fails by itself and cannot be replaced or serviced individually. An inoperable gas gauge is often caused by a failed fuel level sending unit, located in the gas task. If the sending unit is not sending a signal to the gauge, the gauge will read as either empty or full and will not move with the fuel level. Most novice mechanics can change the entire fuel pump, which houses the level sending unit on a 1997 Ford Ranger, fixing any fuel gauge problems. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set Hydraulic Jack Flat block of wood Phillips screwdriver Wrench set Needle-nose pliers Step by Step : 1 Relieve the fuel system pressure. Remove the kick panel on the passenger's side. The fuel shutoff switch will be revealed after removing the kick panel. Unplug the switch from its electrical connector. Insert the key and attempt to start the vehicle for 15 seconds, then turn off the car and remove the key. If the vehicle does not start, the fuel system pressure has been relieved. 2 Remove the fuel tank filler cap. 3 Remove the heat shield and the front retaining strap mounting bolts under the gas tank with a socket wrench. Pull the heat shield out from under the vehicle and remove the front strap from under the gas tank. 4 Place a flat block of wood on top of a hydraulic vehicle jack. Slide the jack under the gas tank for support while removing the tank. 5 Remove the mounting bolt from the rear retaining strap and pivot the strap out from the gas tank. 6 Loosen the screw clamps holding the vent and fill pipes to the fuel tank with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the vent and fill pipes from the gas tank. 7 Lower the tank using the hydraulic tank. Separate the vapor valve and fuel line connectors from the from the sender unit and vapor valve. The lines can pulled apart by hand. 8 Pull the three fuel feed and return lines from the tank by hand. The lines differ in diameter, so they cannot be installed in a different manner. Label the lines if necessary. 9 Unplug the electrical connections for the level sending unit and fuel pump near the rear of the fuel tank. Step by Step : 10 Slide the tank out from under the vehicle using the hydraulic jack. Step by Step : 11 Rotate the lock ring holding the fuel pump to the fuel tank with needle-nose pliers until the fuel pump can be removed from the tank. Pull the pump from the tank. Step by Step : 12 Insert the new fuel pump, which houses the level sending unit, into the fuel tank. Insert the locking ring and rotate the ring with needle-nose pliers until the pump is locked into place . Step by Step : 13 Slide the fuel tank under the vehicle using the hydraulic jack. Raise the fuel tank high enough to plug in the electrical connections for the level sending unit and fuel pump near the rear of the fuel tank. Step by Step : 14 Push the three fuel feed and return lines to the tank by hand. The lines are different in diameter, so they cannot be installed in a different manner. Step by Step : 15 Attach the vapor valve and fuel line connectors to the sender unit and vapor valve. Step by Step : 16 Raise the tank using the hydraulic hack so it is resting against the body. Attach the vent pipe and the fill pipe to the fuel tank. Tighten the screw clamps securing the pipes to the fuel tank with a Phillips screwdriver. Step by Step : 17 Pivot the rear mounting strap over the gas tank and install the mounting bolt with a socket wrench. Pivot the front mounting strap over the gas tank and install the mounting bolt with a socket wrench. Step by Step : 18 Lower the hydraulic jack and remove it from under the vehicle. Step by Step : 19 Set the heat shield in place and install the mounting bolts with a socket wrench. 20 Install the fuel filler neck cap. 21 Plug in the electrical connection for the fuel shutoff switch in the passenger compartment. Push the kick panel back onto the body to engage the retaining clips. In most modern cars, computers control the engine fuel and ignition systems and automatic transmission functions. When messing about with batteries and their cables, be extremely careful not to make a mistake and inadvertently send a shot of unwanted voltage into one of the computers and destroy it. They're not cheap to replace! Carefully remove and replace battery cables, always removing the negative cable first and replacing it last. .Chapter 3: Preventive Maintenance: A Monthly Under-the-Hood Check i.!? If you don't want to lose all those precious radio presets when you dis connect the battery, you can make a cheap tool with a cigarette lighter socket and a 9-volt battery. (Most electronics stores can set this up for you.) Plug the 9-volt battery into your cigarette lighter socket before dis connecting the battery, and when you're done, you'll still have all those Audi . What is an MOT expiry date?
Porsche Panamera. * radio presets. That process also helps maintain memory for your on board computers for your engine and transmission. Take these precautions: Tie the cables back while you're working on the battery so that they don't flop back over onto the terminals. Always remove the negative cable if you plan to work on wiring under the hood. Do not allow anything made of metal to connect the terminal posts; this can damage the battery. And if the cables are connected to the posts at the time, you can destroy the onboard computers. 8. If you've been having trouble starting your car, if your headlights seem dim, or if the battery is old and has bars or caps that you can remove and look inside, buy a battery tester (see Figure 3-7) and use it to check whether the battery acid concentration is high enough. Figure 3-7: Battery tester. These testers cost only a few dollars. You simply draw some of the battery fluid (electrolyte) into the tester and look at the floating balls inside it. A scale on the tester tells you the condition of the battery fluid. If you get a very low reading, you can try having the battery refilled and recharged at a service station. If they tell you that your battery should be replaced, replace it. It's no fun to get caught with a dead battery, because you can't drive to the store to get a new one! Part I: Getting Started If you have a sealed battery and you own or can borrow a voltmeter, attach it across the battery terminals (red to positive and black to negative). With all accessories off and the battery at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the voltage reading should be 12.6 volts or slightly lower at lower temperatures. Or just stop off at your local service station and have them test the battery. 9. Check the battery case and the terminals. If you see major cracks in the battery case or obvious terminal damage, Audi . Why is a whirring sound heard coming from the engine?

When replacing the battery, buy a new one with a reputable brand name at an auto parts store, battery service, or department store; don't risk getting stranded by a cheap battery that malfunctions. But don't overbuy, either; it's foolish to put an expensive battery with a five-year guarantee in a vehicle that you intend to get rid of in a year or two. Don't just dump your old battery into the trash, where it's a hazard to the environment. Because batteries are recyclable, you can trade in your old bat tery for a discount on the price of a new one and walk away content knowing that the old one will be back in service before long. Check the Radiator The radiator cools your engine and needs water and coolant (sometimes called antifreeze) to function. (Chapter 8 familiarizes you with the parts of the cooling system and how they work; Chapter 14 tells you how to flush your cooling system and do minor repairs on it; and Chapter 21 tells you what to do if your car overheats on the road.) Always use a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water to fill or top off the cooling system. Use plain water only in an emergency. Most modern engines have alu Audi . To check the level of the liquid in your cooling system and add more, if necessary, do the following: ' If your car has a coolant recovery system (a plastic bottle connected to the radiator that holds an extra supply of liquid, shown in Figure 8-2 in Chapter 8): There's no need to open the radiator cap. Just check to see whether the liquid reaches the "Full" line on the side of the bottle. If it doesn't, add a 50/50 mix of water and coolant to the bottle until it reaches the "Full" line. .Chapter 3: Preventive Maintenance: A Monthly Under-the-Hood Check AC Some coolant reservoirs are pressurized and have a radiator cap instead of a normal cap.
